String or glue?

This is the first thing to check — it decides how you’ll be able to use the figure:

With a threading hole
The hole runs right through the figure, so cord, elastic or beading thread passes straight through it. For bracelets, necklaces, charms and keyrings.
Cabochon — for gluing
A flat element with no threading hole. Glue it onto cards, albums, boxes and decorations with craft glue.

What they’re used for

  • Bracelets and necklaces. Figures with a hole suit lightweight children’s bracelets, colourful necklaces and themed jewellery. Combine them with wooden beads, elastic or cotton cord.
  • Seasonal charms. Small figures look lovely against a red-and-white cord — hearts, clovers, animals and cheerful shapes make a great centrepiece in a child’s charm. Use yarn or a twisted cord as the base.
  • Cards and scrapbooking. Flat figures glue onto cards, albums, gift tags, boxes and wrapping — they add colour and a bit of depth without any real weight.
  • Holiday decorations. Easter, Christmas and spring motifs work for garlands, wreaths, table decorations, children’s activities and decorating the home or classroom.

Working tip:

If the figure has a hole, test your cord before you start — not every hole takes thick yarn, twine or elastic. For narrower holes, use fine beading thread, wire or a thin cotton cord. And before you buy, check the product type, the size, the hole and how many pieces come in the pack.

What to pair them with

Jewellery needs something to thread onto, decorations need glue, and colour and contrast come from extra beads and paint:

Frequently asked questions

Are they suitable for bracelets?+
Yes, as long as the design has a hole and is light enough to wear comfortably. For bracelets, go for the smaller figures and pair them with elastic cord, beading thread or cotton cord, depending on the hole size.
Can they be used for seasonal charms?+
Yes. Wooden figures are light and sit well against a red-and-white cord. The small shapes work best — hearts, animals, clovers, flowers and other cheerful motifs.
Can they be painted?+
Natural wooden figures can be painted, drawn on or varnished with acrylic paints. On designs that are already printed or coloured, test on one piece first — paint or varnish can change the surface.
Are they suitable for children?+
They’re suitable for craft activities, but they aren’t toys. Small figures are a choking hazard for children under 3 — use the larger pieces and only ever with adult supervision.
