Wedding Invitations and Cards
We understand that your wedding invitation or card is one of the most important keepsakes of your life. Our collection offers designs to give every couple an invitation they will cherish forever. From classic to casual, traditional to modern, add your personalized details in beautiful fonts and colors.
For an extra personal touch, choose an invitation that includes photos, either presented or overlaid with text. Create your own wedding monogram and add it to your invitation design to make it exceptionally special.
After designing your invitations, when should you send them? And what about save-the-date cards? The consensus is four to six months before your wedding for save-the-dates, but allow extra time if yours is a destination wedding. The number one etiquette tip is that save-the-dates should go only to people you plan to invite to the wedding.
Choose your city location to give enough time for travel and accommodation planning, even if the exact venue is not yet decided. You can create a unique wedding hashtag and share it to collect memories from the event.
When Should Invitations Be Sent?
Your invitations should arrive in mailboxes six to eight weeks before your wedding, allowing extra time if guests will need to arrange travel and flights. Set your RSVP date three to four weeks before your wedding, giving you time to follow up on missing responses before final numbers are due to vendors.
A great tip is to use an invisible ink UV pen to mark your RSVP cards with numbers corresponding to your guest list. It’s common to receive a few RSVPs without names, and the numbering system lets you identify the responders. The UV feature keeps it discreet, and the envelope remains new.
From the internet to your best friend, wedding advice can be overwhelming. Come up with a polite but firm response to suggestions, delivered with a sincere smile. The Magic of Wedding Gifts
Finding the perfect wedding gift isn’t always easy. Simply put, people like different things. That’s why soon-to-be spouses take the time to create personalized wedding registries — and the couple’s wish list is always the best place for guests to start their search. But sometimes wedding guests need to look elsewhere for gift ideas. When on the go, you can rely on this list of the best wedding gifts.
This inspiration isn’t just for guests. We’ve searched high and low for wedding gifts that couples love, from traditional items to unique presents you won’t find at a department store. Use The Knot’s Wedding Registry to add items (from anywhere!) to your wish list.

Classic Wedding Gifts
Traditional gifts, such as dinnerware and appliances, are some of the most practical gifts. They are also the gifts most often added to couples’ wedding registries. If the couple has already registered for the type of gift you have in mind, fulfill their wish and buy exactly what they’ve chosen — they will be thrilled. If they haven’t registered for classic wedding gifts, it’s likely because they already have those items.
Use your knowledge of the couple and clues from their wedding registry to provide something they still need. When in doubt, refer to this list of timeless (but still creative) wedding gifts that will complete their home or upgrade their old gear. Then keep scrolling for even more unique ideas and inspiration for wedding gifts and packaging.
The wedding season isn’t back in full swing — but it’s on the horizon. You still have time to shop for the best wedding gifts for your nearest and dearest, so spend some time landing on the perfect token for those you love whose weddings are coming up, whether they’re planned for over a year or rescheduled after postponement.
Act quickly, as you might find yourself browsing your friends’ registry only to discover that the only options left for you are random utensils, appliances, dinnerware, or basic bed and bath items. After all, they’ve probably had their registry for some time now and picked up a few items along the way.
While shopping off the wedding registry can be fun, we’ve gathered ideas that will surprise the couple(s). Here are chic and unique wedding gifts to splurge on.
A set of hand-painted glasses will make any kitchen feel fresh — whether you decide to use them daily as water glasses (and why wouldn’t you?!) or save them for special dinners and occasions to serve your favorite cocktails.
Couples are likely to register for their dream china, but they’ll appreciate some chic options they can use daily and that mix and match with their finer sets.
A stylish throw blanket will add a touch of coziness to the couples’s home.
A stylish coffee table book makes a thoughtful gift, especially if the couple loves travel, fashion, art, or food. Choose one that matches their style and color scheme—they’re more likely to display it if it fits their space beautifully.
When in doubt, a chic serving dish that doubles as a centerpiece or trinket tray is always a good idea.
What about some board games? They would add a playful vibe to the table and allow for an entertaining family evening.
Why Do We Give Wedding Gifts?
The tradition of gift-giving didn’t begin with Christmas. Many ancient cultures celebrated holidays involving gift exchanges.
Gift-giving is probably as old as love itself! Can you think of a time when you bought or made a special gift for someone?
Giving can be even more rewarding than receiving. People who love giving gifts often can’t wait for the moment the recipient opens their gift.
If you’ve ever given a gift, you know that part of the joy is the anticipation and curiosity that builds as the recipient wonders what the gift might be.
The Emotion of a Wrapped Gift
If gifts weren’t wrapped, much of the excitement would be lost. If the recipient could immediately see what the gift was, all that anticipation and surprise would be gone.
Historians believe that gift-wrapping with paper likely began soon after paper was invented thousands of years ago.
The wrapping we use today is a much newer invention. Over 100 years ago, gifts were typically wrapped in plain paper or heavy brown paper. Before that, cloth such as a handkerchief or napkin was often used.
Technology for mass-producing decorated, easily foldable wrapping paper emerged in the early 1900s. The first American gift-wrapping company — Hy-Sill Manufacturing Inc. — was founded by Eli Hyman and Morris Silverman in 1903.
It wasn’t as easy to wrap gifts then as it is today. Since self-adhesive tape wasn’t invented until 1930, early gift wrappers had to skillfully secure wrapped packages with string and sealing wax.
Over the years, wrapping paper evolved into the colorful varieties we see in stores every holiday season. However, some people began worrying about the environmental impact of wrapping paper.
Scientists estimate that the U.S. alone generates an additional 5 million tons of waste during the holidays, most of which comes from wrapping paper and shopping bags.
To reduce this waste, some people carefully unwrap gifts so that the wrapping paper can be reused. Others have started using reusable gift bags instead of wrapping paper.
At EM ART, we offer a wide assortment of gift wrap to make your wedding gift stand out.
Tips for Writing Wedding Cards from EM ART
When writing wedding wishes, the most important thing to remember is to address the card to both newlyweds. “If you know the bride, don’t make the mistake of addressing something too personal just to her.” “Now that she’s married, the card’s content should be relevant to the groom too.”
Always include a note beyond the pre-written message inside. “Never just sign your name under the message. “If you don’t have many words, say that in your writing. Try: ‘I found this card and these words were exactly how I felt.’ This gives extra emphasis to the card itself. ”
Sarcasm can be tricky to get in written form without a smile or exclamation mark. Avoid topics that might be sensitive to the couple, such as money or the length of their relationship, and while it goes without saying: no divorce jokes.
The better you know the couple, the more personal the card can be. Include a memory involving the couple. Sign-offs can be filled with love: “XOXO,” “Over the moon for you,” “Crazy in love with you two.”
Wedding Card Etiquette
Bring Your Card to the Ceremony
You should never show up at someone’s home without a token of appreciation for hosting, and the same applies to weddings. “It’s a lovely gesture that shows gratitude for the invitation.” This holds true even if you’ve already sent a gift to the couple’s home or contributed to a honeymoon fund.
You might write in the card “We hope you enjoy the gift we sent to your home”. This tactfully acknowledges that the gift accompanied your card.
If you don’t see a gift table or card box upon arriving at the ceremony, look for the wedding planner or venue manager. They’ll ensure your card is sent to the bridal suite or another designated safe spot. Alternatively, hand your card to one of the couple’s fathers or the best man.
The reasoning has nothing to do with gender. It’s about what they’ll be wearing. They’re likely to have a suit with pockets, whereas the mothers or other relatives may have a small evening clutch or no pockets at all.
