Decorative Glass Microbeads for Sprinkling and Gluing

Glass microbeads are tiny decorative elements with many creative uses. Unlike ordinary beads, they’re sprinkled onto glue to decorate all kinds of objects and surfaces.

Use them to add texture, colour and shine to cards, decorative objects or handmade gifts.

Sizes

The microbeads come in several sizes, each with its own use:

• 0.6–0.8 mm — very fine, like coloured sand; they cover the surface densely. For nail art, fine detailing and whole surfaces.
• 1.5–2.5 mm — they create texture while the surface stays flat. For cards and smaller projects.
• 3–3.5 mm — each bead stands out, for a caviar-like effect. For texture and larger accents.

There are three finishes — solid painted, transparent with a rainbow effect, and matte. The transparent ones let light through, so the colour underneath changes the final tone.

How to use them

1. Apply a thin, even layer of glue.
2. Sprinkle the microbeads on while the glue is still wet.
3. Press gently with a finger or a flat piece of paper.
4. Let it dry fully, and only then turn it over to shake off the excess.
5. Work over a sheet of paper or a tray to catch the beads that don’t stick.

What they’re used for

• Scrapbooking and cards. Filler for shaker elements — see-through pockets on a card that hold loose bits and rattle — and raised accents on tags and albums.
• Resin and moulds. Scatter them into epoxy resin before it sets.
• Nail art. The finest microbeads are also used to decorate nail polish.
• Festive decoration. Perfect for a snow-and-frost effect on baubles, candle holders and glassware.
• Filler. For decorative clear jars and glass spheres.

What else you’ll need

Glue is essential. For paper and cardс, craft glue does the trick; for glass and metal, use an all-purpose glue or one for special surfaces. For extra durability, seal with varnish or clear resin.
