Tips and Tricks for Diamond Painting

Before you start, carefully review your chart and the instructions. The diamond packs are labeled with the color name or number, but labeling the bag with the symbol used for that color might also be helpful. This will help you quickly determine the correct color while you work.

Cover your fabric design chart with protective plastic film. The chart area will be sticky when you peel off this plastic film. Don’t remove the entire piece of plastic at once.

Instead, slowly peel the plastic film as you work. If you take a break from your project, cover the unfinished area with plastic film again to prevent dust from accumulating or the project from drying out and losing stickiness.

It is easiest to start from the bottom of the design and work your way up. Your kit comes with a small tray to hold the diamonds while you work. This works great when working with one color at a time.

If you prefer to work row by row, switching colors as you work through your chart, use small bowls or crafting trays to keep the colors separate while you work. Be sure to label each tray with the color it contains.

When placing the diamonds in the tray or bowl, take the time to position the diamonds with the flat side down.

If you lose your applicator tool, you can also use a rhinestone applicator, often found with lacquers and manicure tools.

Ready to Start?

Dip the tip of the applicator tool into the wax. The wax will allow you to pick up the diamonds. Look at your chart and determine which color diamond to use. Press the tip of the applicator tool to the rounded side of the diamond.

Peel back the plastic wrap to reveal the area you are working on and gently press the diamond onto the symbol.

Repeat steps 1-3 until your design is complete.

After positioning the last diamond, place protective film over the design. Using a rolling pin, gently roll over the design to attach the diamonds to the sticky surface.

Displaying Your Finished Artwork

• Frame: This is the easiest option. Remove the glass from the frame as it will dull the sparkle of your design.
