How to Make a Kuker Mask

In this article, we will show you how to make a kuker mask at home using easily accessible materials. This is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in tradition and create a unique decoration for the holidays.

Necessary Materials

• Cardboard
• Felt (various colors)
• Yarn (three or more types, in colors of your choice)
• Beads (plastic and wooden)
• Satin ribbon
• Metal coins
• Pom-pom
• Feathers
• Bells
• Hot glue
• Pencil and scissors

Steps for Creating a Kuker Mask

1. Preparing the Base

1. Cut the cardboard into an oval shape in a size of your choice (about 40-50 cm).
2. Draw a smaller oval in the middle of the cardboard, which will serve as the outline of the face.
3. Cut a piece of felt in the same shape and size and glue it with hot glue onto the outline.
4. Leave a free border on the sides for decorating with yarn.

2. Decorating with Beads

1. Glue wooden and plastic beads along the edge of the felt to outline the oval of the face. You can alternate barrel-shaped beads with small cones or choose other beads with a traditional look.

3. Decoration with Yarn

1. Take yarn and wrap it around your four fingers (about 20 wraps), then cut it on one side.
2. Cut them in half and form the necessary number of bundles to cover the frame, using three or more types of yarn if desired.
3. Glue the bundles along the border of the mask, alternating different colors for a more colorful and authentic effect.
4. Secure the bundles by gluing a satin ribbon over their inner edges.
