A spectacular wall decoration
DIY: "Sun" Wall Mirror
Introduction
If you’re looking for an original and striking way to refresh your interior, this handmade "Sun"-style wall mirror decoration is just for you! With the help of mirrored cardboard, bamboo sticks, and a bit of creativity, you’ll create a stylish accent for your home.
In this guide, we’ll show you step-by-step how to make this beautiful creation – easy, fun, and accessible for every fan of DIY projects.
Required Materials
You can find all materials at EM ART, either online or in our physical stores:
- Thick cardboard for the base (approximately 20 cm in diameter)
- Mirrored cardboard
- Bamboo sticks – two sizes: 30 cm and 25 cm
- Acrylic decorative stones – two sizes
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Circle template
- Pencil and ruler
- Scissors
Step 1: Preparing the Base
- Draw a 20 cm diameter circle on the thick cardboard and cut it out.
- Repeat the same with the mirrored cardboard using the same template.
- Glue the mirrored circle onto the base.
- On the back of the base, draw a second, smaller circle (about 8 cm), which you will use as a guide for arranging the sticks.
Step 2: Gluing the Bamboo Sticks
- Start with the longer sticks (30 cm), gluing four first – two vertically and two horizontally to form the main axes.
- Alternate between long and short sticks in each of the four sections, gluing them around the small circle with about 1 cm spacing between each.
- Make sure the sharp ends of the sticks point inward.
Step 3: Decorating with Stones
- Glue the larger acrylic stones to the tips of the longer sticks.
- Place the smaller stones on the shorter sticks.
- For a finished look, glue a second circle of mirrored cardboard in the center – it will cover the stick bases.
- You can also add small stones around the base of the mirrored circle for a richer decorative effect.
Tips and Extra Ideas
- Instead of mirrored cardboard, you can use a real mirror for a more functional decoration.
- Experiment with colors – gold or pink mirrored cardboard also looks fantastic.
- Add LED lights between the sticks for an evening glow.
- Instead of acrylic stones, use pearls, sequins, or beads for a unique look.
Conclusion
Creating this sun-shaped mirror is not only easy but also incredibly rewarding. With a little patience and inspiration, you’ll add an artistic and sunny touch to any wall.
