HANDMADE MARTENITSA FOR HOME AND OFFICE

HANDMADE MARTENITSA FOR HOME AND OFFICE

March 1st is one of the most beloved holidays for both young and old. It marks the beginning of the new agricultural year and the arrival of spring. On this day, we adorn our closest family members and friends with traditional Martenitsa as a symbol of health, luck, and prosperity. All over the world, people welcome the coming of spring with great joy, but here in Bulgaria, we celebrate it with the grand holiday of Baba Marta, filled with traditions and customs whose roots reach deep into our ancient past.

Required materials:

Cardboard

Hemp rope

White and red cord

Soft green felt

Wooden clover figurine

Felt stork

Red wool felt

Wooden letters

Hot glue gun

Hot glue sticks

Let’s get creative!

Step 1: Cut a 30 cm circle out of plain cardboard.

Step 2: Wrap the cardboard base with hemp rope, pressing firmly to make it tight and even. Use hot glue to secure it.

Step 3: Continue by outlining the circle with the white and red cord.

Step 4: Cut a 16x13 cm rectangle from the green felt, then outline it with the remaining red and white cord.

Step 5: Glue the finished green frame in the center of the decorated cardboard circle.

Step 6: To make the flower, use red wool felt and twist it to create the desired shape.

Step 7: Use hot glue to attach the finished red flower and decorative figures.

For the final touch, add the traditional abbreviation ЧБМ (Happy Baba Marta).
