Have you ever heard that stones and crystals have memory? It’s absolutely true. Most of them are an inexhaustible source of energy and bring countless benefits to spiritual and physical health.
It’s good to know that to make the most of their blessings, we must take care of them — and in return, they will reward us with their healing properties. Although they are not living matter, healing and precious stones carry a certain charge that gradually depletes over time.
In the following lines, we’ll take a detailed look at proper storage and the main methods for energy recharging of one of our favorite crystals — Aquamarine.
The sea gem of peace and harmony often travels a long way from Brazil to reach us, since aquamarine deposits in Bulgaria are quite rare. Throughout this journey, the stone is exposed to various energies that may not be compatible with yours.
As a result, negative and stagnant energy can replace its positive vibrations — not only preventing it from helping you, but possibly even causing harm. That’s why its energy must be cleansed and recharged before it begins to work in your favor.

Have you recently purchased a delicate Aquamarine piece of jewelry or just a small crystal for luck? The good news is that there are many methods to cleanse your crystals and stones that also recharge them at the same time. We’ll leave it up to you to decide which one works best for your beautiful gem.
It’s no surprise that we’ve chosen the water cleansing method as the most suitable for delicate aquamarine jewelry and accessories.
Flowing water is associated with washing away evil. It’s used in rituals such as baptisms and spells because water neutralizes all negative energy and returns it to the earth.
Here’s how its power can help you cleanse your Aquamarine.
Hold the stone under running water — ideally from a clean river, clear stream, or brook. You can also place it in a container and submerge it for at least two hours, allowing the restorative forces of water to do their work.
It turns out that salt water is another effective cleansing option. Some people are cautious about this method, as salt is abrasive and may scratch Aquamarine’s surface. However, if you decide to use it, we recommend using natural seawater.
Soak the Aquamarine in the water without applying any pressure (rubbing, etc.). Leave it overnight under the moonlight. This way, your Aquamarine will be cleansed and energized at the same time.
According to legends, this was the cleansing method of sea witches, who immersed their aquamarines in seawater during a full moon night.
Since Aquamarine is the crystal most closely connected to water, you can also let it be purified by rainwater for about six hours to give it enough time to “heal” and recharge.
Often, the cleansing time is individual, and those who have experience working with crystal energy can intuitively feel whether more or less time is needed.
Regular cleansing is the only way to restore the natural energy of Aquamarine, and many people even find it a pleasant and meditative activity.
Did you know that something as natural as breathing can have cleansing power—and a very effective one? This method requires a bit more concentration. Take your Aquamarine in your dominant hand. Focus and visualize your intention to release unwanted energies from the stone, and inhale deeply through your nose.
Exhale onto the Aquamarine to charge it with the highest vibration. This method is suitable for small stones or jewelry, requiring only a few minutes for each.
When combined with visualization, which is considered the most reliable method, you’ll need to maintain good concentration. As you inhale and exhale, imagine energy materializing and flowing from your body into the stone you wish to restore.
At this moment, you can visualize white light representing your energy as you “fill” the Aquamarine. Allow the light to surround it, letting it shine brighter and brighter.
After several repetitions, you may sense that the cleansing is complete.
We all draw energy from the endless sources of nature. One way to remove the accumulated “bad memory” from Aquamarine is through sunlight or moonlight. However, we recommend sticking to nighttime, as Aquamarine is sensitive to direct sunlight and may fade over time.
Once we’ve washed away the accumulated memory of our crystal, it’s only natural to recharge it so we can continue using it for its intended purpose.
Many people share that when their stone has depleted its energy reserves, it begins to feel heavier than usual. Even if you don’t notice a change, you can recharge it anytime.
If you feel that the combined water method isn’t for you, why not try harnessing the power of Earth’s energy? All you need is some natural soil—preferably outdoors—and a glass container (like a jar).
Place the Aquamarine you wish to recharge inside the container and bury it in the soil. Leave it for several hours. It doesn’t need to be completely covered; just ensure the soil touches it. If you feel that’s not enough, you can leave the stone buried for one Lunar cycle.
It’s fascinating how crystals and stones can recharge each other. If your collection includes more than one crystal, this is an excellent way to restore the energy of Aquamarine. Ideal stones for this are Amethyst, Quartz, and Fire Agate.
Did you know you can “program” your stones? Of course, it’s best if the program aligns with their natural properties. Just like the rituals of cleansing and charging, this process depends on personal preferences and is not as complicated as it sounds.
Before you begin setting an intention, take a moment to think about what you truly want from your crystal. Will you use it for healing, protection, or as a talisman?
You’ll need full concentration. Hold the stone in your hand and try to transmit your intentions to it—either through thoughts or spoken words. Make sure your programming involves positive vibrations and gratitude. Aquamarine carries the power of sea goddesses, so you can even invoke them while setting your intention.
If you can’t focus or feel negative thoughts lingering, simply postpone the programming for a better moment.
Here, the rule applies: the more, the better. In other words, the more you use your crystal, the more energy it absorbs. There’s no strict rule defining a specific cleansing and recharging period, but it’s recommended to do so at least once a month. If, in the meantime, you stop feeling its energy or it feels heavier, there’s no need to wait between recharges.
As we already mentioned, as the guardian of water elements, Aquamarine “feels” best when cleansed and recharged through water. However, what works for one may not work for another, so our advice is to find the method that feels best for you—or combine several different ones.
Very often, after proper cleansing and recharging, we ask ourselves — How should I store my crystal correctly?
To protect it from sunlight or other harmful influences, it’s best to keep it in a beautiful box or cabinet. Naturally, if we’re talking about aquamarine jewelry, then your accessory is ready to wear.
